It was the exciting day for the Emirates Barkurians, or EB, the group of Barkurians, residing in UAE. Picnic 2012 ,a day of family picnic was held at Zabeel Park, Dubai with around 45 members happily gathering in this blissful full day picnic.
The main aim of picnic was to get to know each other a little better, have fun and to renew the commitment to build harmony and peaceful community.
It all started with heavy rain, clouds, lightning & wind. Around 11.30 am, as the rains receded, the fun started with prayer by Vera Monteiro Crow, Vice President of the Emirates Barkurians. She welcomed the gathering.
She took the rein of affairs for the whole day. All attendees, men, women, youth and children from all walks of life participated in various games and activities suitable for all. Konkani songs sung by Sanita & team, accompanied by by Allen on guitar kept the spirits soaring. Participants were divided into three teams Gold, Purple & yellow for the games and Team Gold was the winner of the day.
Delicious breakfast Idli Vada and Tea, sumptuous mangalorean lunch & evening snacks and tea served by Jacky’s Star Restaurant, was enjoyed by all. Vera thanked whole gathering at time to call it a day, specially 2 members of the group who sponsored the whole event. All the members departed with memories to cherish for a long time and a promise to meet up again in the near future.
