Rtn. Seetharama S., a resident of Adarsha Nagar, Varamballi village, Brahmavara Taluk, and originally hailing from Sarakare, Jalsuru village, Sulya Taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, has been appointed as the Zonal Lieutenant for Zone 3 of Rotary District 3182 for the year 2026-27. In this capacity, he will oversee the functioning of three Rotary Clubs — Rotary Club Barkur, Rotary Club Saibrakatte, and Rotary Club Hangarkatte Sastan.
A Distinguished Professional Career
Rtn. Seetharama began his professional life on 22nd November 1982, joining National Pre-University College, Barkur, as a Second Grade Assistant and Typist. Through years of dedicated service, he rose through the ranks to the position of Office Superintendent, serving the institution for a remarkable period of 40 years and 6 months before retiring on 31st May 2023.
A Life Devoted to Community Service
His journey in public service began as a founding member of Barkur Shilva Jaycees, through which he took his first steps in organised community work. He went on to serve as its Secretary on two occasions, and during his tenure the chapter was recognised with the State-level Second Best Unit Award — a distinction that reflects the quality of leadership he brought to the role.
In 2001, when the Rotary Club of Barkur was established, Rtn. Seetharama was one of its founding members, serving as Joint Secretary from its inception. Over the years, he has held virtually every significant position within the club — Director, Editor, Treasurer, Vice President, and Secretary — before being elected President for the year 2023-24. Under his presidency, the club undertook numerous people-oriented service initiatives and received the highest number of District Awards in recent years, a testament to his energetic and visionary leadership.
His contributions to Rotary extend beyond the club level. He served as Matching Grant Chairman in 2006-07 and successfully executed a Matching Grant project during that period. He has also been a member of the Zone-level Matching Grant Committee and has served as Zone Coordinator on four separate occasions, demonstrating his consistent commitment to Rotary's larger mission.
Beyond Rotary, he has served as Joint Secretary of the Alumni Association of National Pre-University College, Barkur, and as Joint Secretary of the Non-Teaching Staff Association of the undivided Dakshina Kannada District. He currently serves as a Trustee of Swami Vivekananda Samskrutika Sangha (Regd.), Barkur, and as an Executive Committee Member of Sri Banni Mahakali Ammanavarara Temple, Barkur.
Family
Rtn. Seetharama is married to Smt. Lakshmi Padyana, who serves as Principal of Govinda Das Pre-University College, Surathkal. The couple has two sons — Pareekshit, who works as a Software Engineer at TransUnion Global Technology, Bengaluru, and Nishchit, who is currently pursuing his 10th standard studies at SMS English Medium School, Brahmavara.
