The St. Peter's Church in Barkur celebrated the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, along with the commencement of the New Year 2025 with great grandeur and devotion. A solemn High Mass, carrying the message of beginning the New Year in Mary's footsteps, was concelebrated by an esteemed group of priests including Rev. Dr. Fr. Anil D'Almeida, Fr. Pius Menezes, Fr. Tony Andrade, and Parish Priest Fr. Ronald Miranda.
The church altar was beautifully adorned with fresh floral decorations, creating a serene and festive atmosphere befitting the occasion. The celebration reflected both the spiritual significance of the Solemnity of Mary and the joyous welcome of the New Year.
Following the ceremonial Mass, a special program was organized under the leadership of the ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth Movement). One of the highlights of the post-Mass celebrations was the distribution of prizes to the winners of the Christmas Crib competition, which had earlier showcased the creative talents of the parishioners.
In his New Year message, the Parish Priest extended warm wishes to all parishioners, both local and those residing abroad, praying for a blessed and grace-filled New Year 2025. The celebration embodied the community spirit of the parish, bringing together faithful from various walks of life in a unified celebration of faith and new beginnings.
The entire celebration was marked by a perfect blend of religious solemnity and festive joy, characteristic of the vibrant Catholic community of Barkur. The event set a positive tone for the year ahead, emphasizing both spiritual growth and community bonding.
