BARKUR YCS UNIT CLINCHES TOP HONOR FOR INNOVATIVE TIME-TRAVEL THEMED REEL

In a remarkable display of creative storytelling and cinematography, the YCS Barkur unit emerged victorious at the diocese-level Young Catholic Students (YCS) conference held at Mount Rosary Church, Kallianpur, securing the first prize in the prestigious 'Best Reel Making' competition

The winning entry, described by judges as "a cinematic masterpiece," uniquely explores the concept of time paradox while creatively interpreting the theme "Young People for Youthful Life." The innovative narrative follows a compelling storyline that bridges the present and future in an intricate temporal loop.

The reel centers around a current YCS member who makes an intriguing discovery thirteen years into the future. The protagonist stumbles upon a collection of files containing the annual reports of YCS BARKUR unit from 2024-25. In a fascinating twist, among these documents, he finds the script of the very reel being watched by the audience – creating a mesmerizing circular narrative that challenges conventional storytelling.

What sets this production apart is its clever ending, which plays with the concept of predetermined events. The conclusion suggests that events about to unfold in the present have already taken place in the future, creating a thought-provoking temporal paradox that left audiences and judges equally impressed.

The win has brought considerable recognition to the Barkur unit, highlighting their commitment to excellence in youth ministry and creative endeavors. This achievement is expected to inspire other YCS units across the diocese to push creative boundaries in their future projects.
