In a celebration of Konkani musical heritage, young talent Gaurav Carvalho Barkur took the stage at Mini Wilfy Nite, an event dedicated to preserving the legacy of renowned Konkani musician Wilfy Rebimbus and other stalwarts of Konkani music at Don Bosco hall, Mangalore on 22/12/2024.
Gaurav, son of Sushma and Praveen Carvalho, Barkur, has already made a name for himself as a remarkable young musician. A devoted fan of Konkan Kogul Amar Wilfy Rebimbus, the young performer has mastered an impressive repertoire of about 100 songs by the legendary artist, complete with their musical arrangements, preludes, and interludes.
His musical accomplishments extend beyond Wilfy's compositions, encompassing more than 100 Kannada songs and over 60 Konkani numbers, along with several Hindi songs. What makes his performances particularly noteworthy is his ability to provide his own musical accompaniment while singing.
The young artist recently demonstrated his musical prowess at the 18th Diocese Level Singing Competition organized by ICYM Shankarpura at Pangla parish, where he secured second place in the under-10 category.
