Heradi–Barkur, Sept. 2: Sri Vidyesha Vidyamanya National (SVVN) English Medium High School, Heradi, Barkur, successfully hosted the Taluk-level Ball Badminton Tournament for boys and girls aged 14–17 years under the aegis of Sri Barkur Educational Society (R.), Barkur.
Inaugural Ceremony
The tournament commenced at 9:15 am with Sri B. Shantharam Shetty, President of Sri Barkur Educational Society (R.), presiding over the function. The event was inaugurated by Smt. Shabana Anjum, a dedicated educationist who congratulated the school for its spectacular growth in academics and sports.
Distinguished guests included Sri Shedikodlu Vittal Shetty (Vice President, BES), Sri Ashok Kumar Shetty (Secretary, BES), Sri Nithyananda Shetty (Taluk Physical Education Director), Prof. Archibald Furtado (Admin Coordinator), Sri Rajarama Shetty (Correspondent), Sri Prabhath Shetty (M/s Havaralu PC Groups, Hassan), and Sri H Ajith Kumar Shetty (Vice President, Rotary Club Barkur).
The ceremony began with prayers by the school choir, followed by a welcome address by Correspondent Rajarama Shetty. Principal Mrs. Likitha Kotary presented flower bouquets to dignitaries, while Physical Education Director Mr. Suresh Shetty coordinated the arrangements. All speakers emphasized the importance of sports in education and personality development, commending SVVN for encouraging young talent in rural areas.

A total of 17 teams from various schools across the Taluk participated, making the competition highly engaging. In a remarkable performance, SVVN National English Medium High School, Heradi-Barkur, emerged as Overall Champions, winning all four categories:

Valedictory Ceremony
The prize distribution ceremony was held at 3:30 pm, presided over by Retired Prof. P. Archibald Furtado, Admin Coordinator of National Group of Educational Institutions. Mr. Prabhath Shetty, the generous sponsor of winner's trophies from Havarallu P.C. Groups Hassan, served as chief guest and distributed prizes alongside other dignitaries.
Other notable attendees included Mr. Raj Gopal Nambiar (former PTA President), Mr. Sudarshan Udupa (Old Students Association), and Mr. Jayaram Acharya (former PTA President).
In his presidential address, Prof. Furtado congratulated all participants for their sportsmanship and talent, extending gratitude to the 17 participating teams, management, staff, and donors for their support.
The tournament was meticulously coordinated by Sri Nagendra Achar (Emcee), who also proposed the vote of thanks. The entire SVVN team, including Principal Mrs. Likitha Kotary, Physical Education Director Mr. Suresh Shetty, and all staff members, worked collaboratively with wholehearted support from parents to ensure the event's success.
The tournament concluded on a high note, inspiring budding talents and setting expectations for the upcoming District and State Level Ball Badminton Tournaments. The event showcased excellent teamwork, dedication, and the host school's commitment to promoting sports excellence in the region.
