Bishop of Udupi Diocese Pays Pastoral Visit to Barkur Parish

On October 12, 2024, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, made a pastoral visit to St. Peter's Church, Barkur. The visit was marked by a warm welcome and spiritual engagements with the parishioners.

At 4:00 PM, under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Ronald Miranda, the parish priest, the church committee members extended a traditional welcome to the Bishop. They greeted him with floral bouquets and garlands, symbolizing their respect and affection for their spiritual leader.

Following the welcome ceremony, Bishop Lobo led the congregation in a prayer service. During this time, he invoked God's choicest blessings upon all the parishioners, emphasizing the importance of spiritual growth and community unity.

As part of his pastoral duties, the Bishop also visited the parish cemetery. There, he offered prayers for the departed souls of the parishioners who had passed away. In a solemn gesture, he blessed the cemetery with holy water, a ritual that holds deep significance in the Catholic faith as it symbolizes purification and respect for the deceased.
