Principal Shetty, who passed away on February 12, 2025, was remembered not just as an academic leader but as a beacon of wisdom, discipline, and compassion.
The ceremony began with the lighting of ceremonial oil lamps and the garlanding of Principal Shetty’s portrait, a poignant reminder of the profound impact he had on countless lives. Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary of the Barkur Educational Society, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, setting the tone for an event that celebrated a life well-lived and a legacy that will endure for generations.

Mr. Shedikodlu Vittal Shetty, Vice President of the Barkur Educational Society, took the audience on an emotional journey through the life of Principal Shetty. He spoke of their lifelong bond, tracing back to their childhood days as schoolmates at National High School and later as professional colleagues. Mr. Shetty painted a vivid picture of a man who was not only a visionary in education but also a devoted family man. He fondly recalled Principal Shetty’s loving family—his wife Hemalatha, his three daughters, their husbands, and his extended family—emphasizing how his values of love, integrity, and service were reflected in both his personal and professional life.
Mrs. Laxmi Bai, former Principal of Hiriyadka Junior College and representative of Bharatiya Vikas Trust, shared her memories of Principal Shetty’s saintly nature and boundless compassion. With tears in her eyes, she described him as a man whose kindness touched everyone he met, leaving an everlasting impression on the community.
A touching PowerPoint tribute, presented by Ms. Akshata, Lecturer in Computer Science, and her team, chronicled Principal Shetty’s remarkable 85-year journey. The presentation highlighted his unwavering dedication to education, his contributions to social, religious, and cultural spheres, and his steadfast belief in values that shaped the lives of countless individuals. The tribute served as a powerful reminder of a towering personality whose influence transcended generations.

Mr. Y. Mohan Rao, former lecturer in Commerce, reflected on his 23-year association with the late Principal, recalling the wisdom and guidance he received from his mentor.
Mr. Karunakar Shetty, President of the NJC Alumni Association, spoke of how Principal Shetty’s nurturing spirit shaped the lives of countless students, instilling in them the values of discipline, hard work, and integrity.

Mr. Bhaskar Shetty, Principal of Government First Grade College, Barkur, lauded Principal Shetty’s unwavering dedication to education and moral values, noting his significant contributions to the growth of educational institutions in the region.

Mr. Venktesh Kramadhari, Principal of National ITI Heradi, reminisced about Principal Shetty’s 40 years of service to the institution, recalling his affectionate nature and unwavering support.
Mrs. Likhita Kotari, Principal of SVVN English Medium High School, Heradi Barkur, spoke of Principal Shetty’s principles of discipline, punctuality, and inclusivity, which she described as a guiding light for educators.
Mr. Udaya Kumar Shetty, Headmaster of National Higher Primary School, Uddalgudde, hailed Principal Shetty as a “valuable gem” in the community, a man who dedicated his life to the welfare of society.
Mr. Ratnakar Shetty, Correspondent of Rukmani Shedthi National Higher Primary School, Heradi Barkur, highlighted the distinct qualities of a man he described as “a man of the century in Barkur.”
