Local Students Explore Barkur's Heritage on Educational Field Trip

Barkur, January 23, 2026 – Students from Government Higher Primary School, Hosala-Barkur, embarked on a comprehensive educational tour of Barkur's historical and cultural landmarks on Thursday, gaining firsthand knowledge of the region's rich heritage.

The field trip, organized under the leadership of Headmaster Mr. Shyam Sundar Shetty, took students to several significant sites including St. Peter's Church, Sri Kulamahasthree Temple in Bennekudru, Sri Malthi Devi Temple in Kachur, Sri Battevinayaka Temple Barkur, and Seeta River side Resort.

A highlight of the visit was the stop at St. Peter's Church, where Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Ronald Miranda received the students warmly. He delivered an informative address on the church's historical significance and architectural features, captivating the young audience with insights into the landmark's importance.

The students, accompanied by teachers Ms. Parvathi, Ms. Geetha, and Ms. Kalavathi, demonstrated enthusiastic engagement throughout the tour, actively participating in discussions about the region's diverse cultural and religious heritage.

The educational excursion provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect with local history and develop a deeper appreciation for the community's traditions. Such initiatives reflect the school's commitment to experiential learning and cultural education beyond the classroom.
