Fans of Konkani music had a memorable day on Sunday, October 30, as noted singer Wilson Olivera, who was on a sabbatical, was back on the stage to enthral large gathering at Navinbhai Thakkar hall, Vile Parle East, in the second of the five musical shows scheduled in Mumbai.
Wilson Olivera Nite was organised by St Peter’s Association (Barkur), Mumbai, which has served in educational and social spheres for more than two-and-a-half decades, as part of its 28th annual cultural celebrations.
Henry D’Silva, Suratkal renowned Konkani Film producer, businessmen Harry Buthello, Harry Rebello, Konkani Film director Harry Fernandes, Konkani Sangeet Sardar Wilson Olivera, Show coordinator Ronald Olivera, Konkani weekly Divo editor Lawrence Coelho, Ancy Paladka, Phelcita a well wisher of Wilson Olivera and others were present as guests of honour and special invitees. Association president presented bouquets to the guests and honoured them.
Sangeet Sardar Wilson Olivera enthralled the gathering with a splendid performance, ably supported by other artistes and musicians from Mangaluru. Well-known singers Pradeep Pinto, Prashant Pinto, Rony Crasto, Priya Menezes, Shilpa Coutinho and Joseph Mathias, rendered melodious numbers in the programme led by Wilson Olivera.
Popular music group from Mangaluru provided music. The popular Kushali Kinnigoli had the audience in splits with comedy acts. Naach Sobhan group presented scintillating dances. Ace compère Ronald Olivera kept the audience engaged throughout the event in his inimitable style.
Association vice-president Timothy D’Souza, treasurer John Gonsalves, joint secretary Arthur Mendonca, Public Relation officer Jolvin Furtado, former presidents Felix Barnes, Richard Carvalho and others were present on the dais.
Association president Boniface Sequeira welcomed the gathering. Honorary secretary Eric Carvalho addressed and informed them about the activities of the Association. Coordinator Ivan Rebello introduced the guests, compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
