A tribute to a genuine family-man – Mr Augustine DSouza
Sadly yesterday morning at its wee hours the octogenarian uncle bid adieus to his family…..No doubt he lived a long life of almost 90 great years, naturally it is a moment for grief and sorrow for his beloved wife Elsie Teacher, children and the whole extended family…. We the whole erstwhile CYM family condole them and pray to Almighty Lord to grant eternal rest in heaven and strength and solace to all who loved, admired and served by him in his illustrious career in LIC of India for decades…..
Personally speaking, Ashi Uncle was a person we all respected and revered for few great qualities.
The DSouza family which gave best to CYM Barkur in the form of his three sons and two daughters, who always remained in limelight for their distinct talents and contributions during its very inception and continued for early two decades….
A strict disciplinarian at home and gentleman in is his dealings. It was an n envy to all and sundries during those years, why we too don’t have such parents…?
As I gathered he was an excellent and bright student in NHSS Barkur, one of the early batches to fetch SSLC. Such alumnus deservedly recognised during its Platinum year 1946 – 2022 but fate written otherwise and Uncle bid adieus to this world….!!
His and Elsie teacher’s was one six decade old romantic love story blossomed in the neighbourhood around Rayaratota and known to exceptionally few till they united in the holy sacrament of matrimony. Very recently they celebrated their Diamond jubilee 60 years of married life…..That must be a rarest among rarest privilege and honour – as very few fortunate couple able to cross the milestone….!
Uncle Ashi knew the value of money to its core and never spent on luxuries or show of prestige or dignity – as once he shared that he has seen the hardship of parents to secure the future of their children….He was a passionate and lovable family man…..!!
He was an active member of then famous St Peters Association of our Church– and a blue eyed boy of Rev Fr. A Rozario….He had that pain of abrupt end witnessed by this platform due to self serving motives of few…. He also served in the Parish Pastoral Council, St Vincent D Paul Society etc….However for us, he was counted among few who supported CYM since its inception years in 1976….Ashi uncle was a trusted man for monetary transactions and CYM sought his help while organising ticket drama’s and its ticket sales….which he happily and voluntarily offered with sincerity and compassion…..
His eldest son Denzil probably one among the founder members who was very handsome a brand for Inspectors role in most of the plays of CYM in 1979 – 83. Noelyn was a extra-ordinarily talented – and her oratorical skills still a bench mark for any effective speaker to imitate….I have young Brian and Indira giving their possible best during their days I presume….Of course the youngest Vijay too had his own share in the CYM success story…Most importantly all the five were excellent in their studies – a fact all acknowledge rightly due to the concern, encouragement, supervision by the educated parents….Elsie teacher & AshI Uncle….
The entire CYM family recall the services and patronage it enjoyed especially during its infant years and remain indebted.
May almighty Lord grant the departed soul eternal rest in heaven and console his bereaved family.
