Golden Jubilee Celebration of Maryknoll High School Inaugurated

Mr Anand C Kundar, proprietor, Geethanand foundation inaugurated golden jubilee celebration of Maryknoll High school, Barkur on Saturday, June 18.

 

 

 

The programme began with the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of one of the projects undertaken as part of Jubilee celebration. The project is buildng new toilet facility and a cycle stand for the students. Mr Anand C Kundar did the foundation laying and Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca evoked the blessings of almighty over the project.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anand in his inaugural address said that, ‘an education institute gives human values, teaches principles  and it forms a person’s life. This is a first step to meet our goal. So every old student is a debtor towards their school which has made them to stand on their own feet today.

 Thus, it is a good opportunity to old students to contribute something for the school as token of gratitude. If we have given importance to education, only then we can develop’.

 

 

 

 

Fr Valerian Mendonca, parish priest Saint Peter Church Barkur in his blessing note said, ‘the high school secured 100% results six times. Now I realized the true effort behind this success. In these days, the State government is giving less importance to Kannada medium schools and many of them closed its doors. The school had been completed its fifty years. As the school committee pointed 10 demands to fulfill, that must be fulfilled within December. ‘Nearly 130 children of this region, are moving to 14 local English medium schools. Now a day, students have huge sources to get information such as social media, websites and so on. He also added, ‘there is need to change medium of this school to English medium within three months, as per the requirement of future generation. It would be help to provide better education and make the students more strong'. He also stressed, the government to be fulfill their demands as earnest as possible.

 

 

 

Gracy Joseph, secretary, Sisters of Charity Education Society, Mangaluru presided over the programme. She released an appeal letter. Addressing the gathering she expressed her happiness about the involvement of old students of the school in celebrating this milestone. She recalled the the days when the school came into existance. How the founders of the school understood the need of providing education to the people for the development of the society. 

 

 

 

Shaila D'Souza, president, Barkur gram panchayat and B Kasim, chief secretary, Udupi zilla Muslim okkoota were also spokes on this occasion. Stany Pius, honorary president, Silvestreena, convenor, Sis Treesa, secretary, Satish Amin, joint secretary, Kishore Gonsalves, oranizing secretary and others present.

 

 


The inauguration ceremony commenced with an invocation. Ashok S Poojary, committee president welcomed the gathering, Satish  Amin proposed vote of thanks. Swarnalatha G compered the programme.
