Maryknoll High School, Barkur will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee of its existence this year. The inaugural event will be held on on 18th of June 2016, Saturday and the Jubilee Celebration will be held on 7th December 2016, as per the statement given by Mr Ashok S Poojary, President of Jubilee Celebration Committee.
In a Press Meet on Monday, June 6th, held at the school hall, he added, there will be various competitions, training sessions, workshops organised for students, teachers, parents and old students during the next 6 months as a part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
Pointing out the few achievements of the school he said, the high school has secured 100% result in SSLC examinations from the year 2007 to 2015. Four students have been selected in NMMS exam held during the academic year 2015-16.
Providing the details about the programme to be held on the Celebrations day, he said, Mr Anand C Kunder, Proprietor, Geethanand Foundation Manoor Kota will be inaugurating the Programme. Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, Parish Priest, St Peter Church Barkur will be blessing the gathering and Sr Gracy Joseph, Secretary, Sister of Charity Education Society Mangalore will be presiding over the function.
Mrs Shaila D'souza, President, Barkuru Grama Panchayath, Mr Nagesh Shyanabhag Zonal Education Officer Brahmavar, Mr B Kasim Chief Secretary Udupi Zilla Muslim Okkoota will also be present during the occasion.
Mr Stany Pais Honarary President of the committee, Sr Sylvestina, Convenor and School Correspondent, Mr Satish Amin Joint Secretary, Mr Kishore Gonsalves Organising Secretary, Mr Ramanand Rao Assistant Teacher, Mr Vincent Lewis Treasurer, Mr Shankar Poojary President, Parents Teachers Association, were present during the Press Meet.
The jubilee committee and PTA have proposed to implement the following projects during the educational year.
Repair and painting of the school building
Renovation of computer lab
Installation of a statue of the patron of the school
Installation of a board with the vision/mission of the school
Bringing out a golden jubilee souvenir
Beautification of the school premises
Celebration of the golden jubilee
Formation of a student's welfare fund
Construction of toilets, cycle stand and mid-day meal kitchen
