BARKUR - The Old Students' Association of National High School & National PU College, Barkur conducted its Annual General Body Meeting for 2024-25 on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the college auditorium. Despite rainy weather and it being a working day, the meeting saw good attendance from alumni members.
Leadership and Proceedings
Association President Mr. Sankadi Karunakar Shetty presided over the session, with Treasurer Mrs. Jyothi Shetty serving as the program compere. Vice President Mr. Harindranath Shetty delivered the welcome address, acknowledging the dedication of members who attended despite challenging circumstances.
The meeting commenced at 10:15 AM with prayers led by students Ms. Sakshita and Samruddi, setting a respectful tone for the proceedings.
Tributes to Educational Leaders
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to honoring two distinguished educators who passed away:
- Late B. Seetharama Shetty, the institution's Founder Principal who served for 26 years. He also contributed as Secretary and Vice President of Barkur Educational Society and former OSA President.
- Late Venkataramana Aithal, Principal for seven years and renowned Mathematics lecturer, remembered for his impact on generations of students.
Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary of Barkur Educational Society, led the tribute ceremony, followed by a minute of silence for all departed alumni.
Annual Achievements Highlighted
Secretary Mr. Balakrishna Hegde, retired Principal of Tenkanidiyur Government First Grade College, presented the comprehensive annual report showcasing the association's key initiatives during 2024-25:

- Teacher recognition and felicitation on Teachers' Day with commemorative mementos
- Complete uniform sets provided to all first-year PU students
- Financial support for CET and NEET coaching classes
Infrastructure and Activities

Financial Transparency Maintained
Joint Secretary Mr. Archibald Furtado, who also serves as Administrative Coordinator of National Educational Institutions Barkur, presented the annual accounts including income and expenditure statements and balance sheet. Members commended the transparent and accountable financial management practices.
Strategic Discussions and Future Vision
The AGM featured meaningful discussions on educational enhancements, infrastructure improvements, and upcoming projects. Several prominent members contributed valuable insights:

The meeting concluded with Mrs. Jyothy Shetty's vote of thanks, acknowledging all office-bearers, members, and supporters for their dedication. Special recognition was given to Mrs. Janet Lewis for her continued support and concern for the institution.
Earlier, BES Secretary Ashok Kumar Shetty had acknowledged the various welfare activities conducted by both current and past OSA leadership, demonstrating the association's consistent commitment to institutional development.
