In a commendable initiative to encourage academic excellence, two separate scholarship programs were conducted at the parish level for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Theresa and Edwin Fernandes Scholarship
Mr. Edgar Fernandes instituted scholarships in memory of his late parents, Theresa and Edwin Fernandes, Hosala for students who secured the highest marks in Class 10 and PUC (Pre-University Course) across all three streams.
The recipients of these scholarships are:
- Class 10: Vivika Pinto
- PUC Science: Sharon Pinto
- PUC Arts: Rachel Gonsalves
- PUC Commerce: Rania D'Souza
The scholarships were distributed after the first Mass under the auspices of the Catholic Sabha (Catholic Association) of the parish. Spiritual Director and Parish Vicar Fr. Ronald Miranda, Catholic Sabha President Pius James D'Souza, and Secretary Rippon D'Souza were present during the ceremony.
Celestine and Bonaventure DAlmeida Scholarship
Mr. Harry (Reena) DAlmeida established scholarships in memory of his late parents, Celestine and Bonaventure DAlmeida, Halekodi, for the top three scorers in Class 10
The recipients of these scholarships are:
1. Vivika Pinto
2. Jencita Quadras
3. Macklin Suaris
The parish Vicar distributed these scholarships in the presence of the donor, Mr. Harry DAlmeida.
Both scholarship programs aim to recognize and support academic achievement among the youth of the parish, continuing the legacy of the donors' parents and encouraging future generations to strive for excellence in education.
