Personality of the Month

Silver Jubilee of Religious Life (2000–2025)

With profound joy, gratitude, and a deep sense of pride, Barkur and the Barkur Online Team honour Sr. Vinisha Lobo, SCCG, as “Personality of the Month”, on the joyous occasion of her Silver Jubilee of Religious Life, celebrated on 29th December 2025 at St. Peter’s Church, Barkur.

A proud daughter of Barkur, Sr. Vinisha (better known in native town, as Veena Lydia Lobo) was born to Mr. William Lobo and Mrs. Mary Lobo, a deeply devout and value-oriented Christian couple who nurtured their children in faith, discipline, and service. Her early years were marked by simplicity, prayer, and a strong sense of responsibility—virtues that later blossomed into a religious vocation and a life of dedicated service.

She received her high school education at Maryknoll School, Barkur, where her young and impressionable mind was profoundly influenced by the inspiring lives of the Sisters of Charity. The sisters’ spirit of simplicity, dedication, and compassionate outreach ignited in her heart a strong desire to consecrate her life to God and to serve humanity, especially through education.

After completing her schooling, Sr. Vinisha pursued her Pre-University Course and Degree studies at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, a premier institution known for academic excellence and holistic formation. With a clear vision of serving through education, she further equipped herself professionally by completing her Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) at St. Joseph’s College, Mysore.

Her teaching ministry began at St. Joseph’s School, Sakleshpur, where her commitment, leadership qualities, and genuine concern for students soon became evident. These qualities led to her appointment as the Headmistress of Jerosa School, Mangalore, where she rendered commendable service and contributed significantly to the academic and moral growth of the institution.

A passionate lover of literature and a firm believer in lifelong learning, Sr. Vinisha pursued higher studies and successfully earned her Doctorate in English from Mangalore University, adding a notable academic milestone to her consecrated life.

At present, Sr. Vinisha holds the distinguished responsibility of heading two educational institutions. She serves as the Headmistress of St. Philomena High School, Hassan, and simultaneously as the Principal of St. Philomena PU College, Hassan. Through her visionary leadership, disciplined administration, and compassionate heart, she continues to mould young minds and uphold the core values of faith-based education.

Coming from a family richly blessed with vocations, Sr. Vinisha joyfully shares this Jubilee with her two brothers in the priesthood—Rev. Fr. Vishal Lobo, Parish Priest of Fatima Church, Perampally, Diocese of Udupi, and Rev. Fr. Vijay Lobo, a distinguished academician and earlier Principal of the prestigious Milagres PU College, Kallianpur, St. Philomena PU College, Puttur, and now Anugraha College Ujjre in the Diocese of Mangalore. Together, they stand as a living testimony to a home deeply rooted in faith and service.

In recognition of her outstanding contribution to religious life, education, and society, and as a mark of affection and pride from her native place, Barkur and the Barkur Online Team joyfully felicitate Sr. Vinisha Lobo, SCCG, as Personality of the Month, coinciding with her Silver Jubilee celebrations on 29th December 2025 at St. Peter’s Church, Barkur.
