Barkur, June 15, 2024: National Junior College (NJC) Barkur hosted a glittering ceremony to felicitate the outstanding achievers from the previous academic year 2023-24. The auditorium was filled to capacity as proud students, parents, teachers, and dignitaries gathered to celebrate academic excellence.
The event commenced with an invocation by Class VIII students, followed by a warm welcome by Principal U Kottraswamy. The Chief Guests, Mrs. Janet Lewis from Late U.S. Nayak Memorial Charitable Trust, Mr. Gururaj Ganiga representing Shri Venu Gopala Krishna Temple, and esteemed members of Barkur Educational Society graced the occasion.
Paying tribute to the institution's illustrious past, the Principal introduced Sri Sri Purushottamanandaji, a revered seer and an alumnus from the 1960s, and Shri P.N. Bhoja Rao, the founding Headmaster of National Higher Secondary School (1946-1971). A ceremonial lamp was lit, and floral tributes were offered to these great souls, whose memories continue to inspire generations of learners.
The air was charged with excitement as the names of SSLC (Class 10) and PU (Pre-University) achievers were announced. Mrs. Jyoty Shetty, Senior Science Teacher and Treasurer of NHSS Old Students Association, read out the names of SSLC winners, while Mrs. Vijaya Laxmi, Lecturer in Commerce, presented the PU achievers. The students beamed with pride as they received cash prizes, endowments, trophies, and certificates from the dignitaries.
Prof. P. Archibald Furtado, the Administrative Coordinator of National Group of Educational Institutions, congratulated the winners and acknowledged the sacrifices of the Principal, Headmaster, and staff in achieving extraordinary results – 96.5% in PU and 100% in SSLC. He called upon the current students to emulate this success through dedication and hard work.
In his address, Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary of Barkur Educational Society (BES), appreciated the efforts of students and teachers, emphasizing the need to maintain the institution's reputation through unwavering determination. Former Principal Mr. B. Seetarama Shetty reminisced about the past and reaffirmed the management's commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment at the National Campus.
The Chief Guests, Mr. Gururaj Ganiga and Mrs. Janet D'Souza, were honoured for their generous contributions. Mr. Ganiga, representing the Shri Venu Gopala Krishna Temple, pledged continued support for providing mid-day meals to male students. Mrs. D'Souza, on behalf of the U.S. Nayak Memorial Charitable Trust, not only sponsored uniforms for High School students but also awarded cash scholarships to deserving students for higher studies.
Shri S. Vittal Shetty, Vice Chairman of BES, delivered the presidential address, congratulating the students and teachers. He fondly remembered Sri Sri Purushottamanandaji and Headmaster P.N. Bhoja Rao as exemplars of quality teaching and dedication, urging the students to excel both in the classrooms and on the playgrounds.
The well-organized program, presented by Mr. Maruti and Mrs. Hemavathy P.S., Headmistress of the High School, concluded with a vote of thanks. The joyous occasion was marked by the distribution of sweets to all attendees, including teachers, management members, and parents.
NJC Barkur's Prathibha Puraskara event reaffirmed the institution's commitment to nurturing young minds and celebrating their achievements, setting the stage for continued success in the forthcoming academic year.
