The Traditional "Thiri" an innovative form of storing Paddy at Shrinivasa Udupa attracts visitors.

In a remarkable display of traditional farming practices, Shrinivas Udupa, along with eight skilled farmers, has successfully harvested 90 quintals of paddy this year at his ancestral home in  Koodli, Barkur.  Shrinivas Udupa, known for his innovative agricultural experiments, has upheld the age-old farming techniques, producing a substantial yield of high-quality rice.

The term "Thiri" refers to the storage technique of Paddy, building of which is a process involving meticulous care and expertise. The  paddy harvested at the Udupa residence weighed around 90 quintals, is stored in the Traditional Thiri, a testament to the collective efforts of the dedicated team of eight farmers. The individuals contributing to this agricultural achievement include Ganga Bayi, Ananda Nayak, Narasimha Nayak, Ram Nayak, Shrinivas Udupa (the landowner), Sudarshan Udupa, Babanna Nayak, Devu Nayak, Santosh Nayak, and Shyamala Nayak.

The success of this harvest is attributed not only to the expertise of the farmers but also to the preservation of traditional practices. Shrinivas Udupa and his team have managed to safeguard the crop from adversities such as rain and wind, ensuring the quality of the harvest remains uncompromised for upto 4 years. 

This achievement not only highlights the importance of preserving traditional farming methods but also serves as an inspiration for the agricultural community. Shrinivas Udupa's commitment to sustainable farming practices and his ability to adapt to changing conditions exemplify the resilience required in modern agriculture.
