BARKUR, September 25, 2025 – The Barkur Educational Society (BES) held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, marking another successful year of educational achievements and community engagement. The three-hour gathering brought together educators, administrators, alumni, and stakeholders to review accomplishments and chart the course for future growth.
Outstanding Academic Performance Highlights Year
The meeting, chaired by Mr. B. Shantarama Shetty, showcased remarkable academic achievements across all affiliated institutions. The ITI programs continued their streak of excellence with 100% results across most streams.
"These results reflect the dedication of our faculty and the commitment of our students," said Mr. Shetty during his presentation of the annual report. "Despite increased competition in the education sector, our institutions have maintained their standard of excellence."
New Programs Launch to Meet Student Demands
A significant development this year was the introduction of NEET and CET coaching classes, made possible through generous sponsorship from alumni and well-wishers. This initiative addresses the growing demand for competitive exam preparation among students in the region.
The society also announced plans to expand short-term courses in both ITI and PU College programs, responding to evolving industry needs and student interests.
Community Support Drives Institution Growth
The meeting highlighted the crucial role of the National Old Students Association (OSA) and various donors in supporting institutional development. Their contributions have funded numerous initiatives including:
- Guru Vandana ceremonies
- Free uniform distribution
- Student transportation services
- Ten new steel cupboards for library expansion
- Mid-day meal programs
- Scholarships for deserving students
Mr. Mahesh Udupa, former OSA President, and Prof. Balakrishna Hegde, current OSA Secretary, were among the distinguished alumni present who emphasized continued support for their alma mater.
Tributes Honor Educational Pioneers
The gathering began with a solemn tribute to two educational stalwarts: retired founder Principal of NJC B. Seetharama Shetty and former Principal and Mathematics Lecturer K. Venkataramana Aithall. A minute of silence honored their decades of service and contribution to student welfare.
The meeting commenced with traditional prayers led by students Ms. Samruddi, Kaushalya, and Sakshita, followed by a warm welcome address from Vice President Mr. Shedikodlu Vittal Shetty.
Financial Stability Ensures Continued Growth

A key goal is achieving 100% placement rates across all institutions, particularly at NITI, through improved industry partnerships and career development programs.
Board Expansion Strengthens Leadership
The meeting approved the inclusion of P. Archibald Furtado, Administrative Coordinator of all National Educational Institutions, to the BES Executive Committee, bringing total membership to 30. This expansion reflects the growing scope of the society's educational initiatives.
