A rainy Friday morning might have dampened the skies, but not the spirits of the enthusiastic PU students of National Junior College, Barkur. The much-awaited Orientation Programme, held on 25th July 2025, inaugurated with lighting of traditional oil lamp, turned out to be a memorable and energizing experience for nearly 200 teenagers, marking a vibrant beginning to their academic journey.
The day began on a reverent note with a prayer session in the College Auditorium at 10:30 a.m. Setting the tone for the day, Principal Mrs. Usha Kiran Shetty warmly welcomed the distinguished guests – the esteemed Principal of Smt. Rukmini Shedthi National First Grade College, Prof. Bhaskar Shetty, and renowned youth trainer and social scientist, Mrs. Dr. Sridevi from Karkala, Associate Professor Dept of Social Work in SRS National First Grade College, Barkur,
Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty, the Secretary of the Barkur Educational Society presided over the inauguration ceremony gave a insightful speech to learn from the peer group, teachers, surrounding in the wonderful ambience of National Campus and wished a very useful orientation program through resource person in the forthcoming session.
He also honoured Principal Prof Bhaskar Shetty with a memento on this occasion.
Mr. Archibald Furtado, Admin Coordinator of the National Group of Educational Institutions, under the aegis of The Barkur Educational Society, extended floral greetings to the guests. In his motivational message, he urged students to explore, discover, and redefine their potential during the crucial PU years — a pivotal phase in every learner’s life. The brief stage program was wound up with a vote of thanks by Mrs Aishwarya Shetty, lecturer in Physics and the whole event gracefully anchored by Mrs Vijayalakshmi, Lecturer in Commerce.
The next two hours flew by in an engaging and enlightening manner. Prof. Bhaskar Shetty offered a concise overview of the sprawling National campus, the adjoining degree college, and the wide range of courses available. His address gave students a broader vision of their academic possibilities.
The spotlight, however, was on Mrs Dr. Sridevi, whose dynamic and interactive session kept students captivated throughout. Blending real-life examples, multimedia presentations, and participatory games and activities, she left a lasting impression, inspiring the young minds to dream big and act bold.
The seminar concluded at 12:55 p.m., just as the students were yearning for more. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Ullittaya , lecturer in Sanskrit, who acknowledged the valuable insights shared by the speakers.
As a mark of appreciation, the Principal honoured the resource person Dr Sridevi with tokens of gratitude for her valuable time, impactful training, and inspiration shared with the budding youth.
