Maryknoll High School Barkur has been a favourite venue to organise various programmes in recent years. Both Govt sponsored events and activities for the benefit of the students and parents conducted by social organisations such as Rotary, Lions etc are regularly held to focus, educate and to spread awareness among the children and citizens. Last whole week the campus was full of activities as it witnessed variety of such programmes.
Below is a glimpse at them for the information of our valued readers:
1. Rotary Interact Oath-Taking Programme
The Oath-taking ceremony of Interact was held at 10-30am on August 3rd, 2022 at Maryknoll Highschool Barkur. Head-master in charge Mr Ramananda Rao, all the teaching and non-teaching staff was present in the programme. Kannada teacher Mr Manohar welcomed the gathering. Chief Returning Officer Rn Sudhakar Rao stressed on the role of school on personality development. Rn Subrahmanya chaired the meeting. Rn Kushal Poojary and Rn Sathish Amin conducted the quiz competition. Report of the various activities was presented by Secretary Ms Dhanalaxmi. Mr Chethan expressed his feeling in few words. The programme was neatly compered by Ms Gauthami.
2. Vanamahotsava Programme
The Vanamahotsava programme was held at 9-30 am on August 3rd, 2022 in Maryknoll Highschool, Barkur. The programme was inaugurated by the Forest Officer Mr Harish. In his speech he focussed on the responsibility of each citizen in preserving environment. He promised the students of providing a saple on the birthday of each one of them.
HM incharge Mr Ramananda Rao, Teaching and non-teaching staff of the school were present. Rn Sudhakar Rao compered the programme meticolously.
3. AGM of PTA
An awareness programme on ‘Tobacco-free School’ along with the Annual General Meeting of PTA of Maryknoll Highschool was held on August 4th, 2022. In the first part, Mrs Sulochana (Science Teacher) gave an elaborate demonstration on tobacco abuse with the help of video clippings and slide-show.
The Headmistress Sr Jasmita Crasta chaired AGM of PTA. Mr Suhail M. Sudhakar Kairan welcomed the gathering. Sr. Jasmita gave the introductory remarks. An Executive Committee comprising of ten parents was nominated. Among them Mr Alfred Furtado was selected as the President and Mr Srinivas Poojary as the Vice President. Newly elected President assured all co-operations for the holistic progress of the school. Mr Harry Hector Gonsalves (Teacher of Physical Education) proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs Swarnalatha (Teacher of Hindi and Social Science) compered the programme meticulously.
4. A Programme on Washing Hands
A Programme on washing hands was held at 9-30 on August 6th, 2022. Chairman of Barkur Grama Panchayath Mr Shantharam Shetty presided over the programme. In his speech he mentioned about the importance given by our ancestors about cleanliness. Dr Rohini of Barkur PHC, Health Workers, Asha Workers and the student community participated in the demonstration with interaction.
HM in charge Mr Ramananda Rao, Teaching and Non-Teaching staffs were present. Science Teacher Mrs Sulochana compered the programme neatly.
