It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Alwyn DSouza, a beloved member of our community, who breathed his last on August 26, 2024, in Kallianpur at the age of 85.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Born to Felix and Cecilia DSouza of Kachhur, Barkur, Alwyn's journey began in a house just behind St. Peter Church. After completing his SSLC from National High School Barkur in the early 1960s, he ventured to Mumbai to pursue higher education. Armed with a B.Com degree, Alwyn joined the prestigious Syndicate Bank, where he built a successful career, serving at various branches in and around Mumbai, notably at Khar Road in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
A Man of Principles and Warmth
Alwyn was known for his soft-spoken nature, principled approach to life, and amicable disposition. His systematic routine and disciplined lifestyle were admired by many, even as he continued to drive his favorite scooter well into his 80s. A jovial person, he often fondly recalled his days in Mumbai and his involvement with the St. Peters Association (SPA).
Contributions to the Community
Alwyn's dedication to his fellow Barkurians was evident in his active participation in the St. Peters Association Barkur Mumbai, founded on April 17, 1988. As the Youth Wing Convenor, he helped find jobs for young people and was instrumental in fundraising efforts, particularly for the Youth Hostel project in Naigaon, Mumbai.
Family and Final Arrangements
Alwyn is survived by his loving wife Imelda, son Ashley and daughter-in-law Ann, daughter Gail and son-in-law Osborne Monteiro, along with his extended family.
The final funeral rites will be held at the Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
A Lasting Legacy
As we bid farewell to this remarkable individual, we remember Alwyn DSouza not just for his professional achievements, but for the lives he touched and the community he helped build. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and community service will continue to inspire us all.
