2 cousin sisters of Kudru ward, Leona Furtado and Ancia Christel D’Souza, received first holy communion together on October 25th at St Peter’s church barkur. Leona is daughter of Mrs Leera Furtado and Mr Nelson Furtado’s Ancia is Daugher of Mrs Cynthia and Mr. Antony Prakash Dsouza.
Incidentally this occasion is a beautiful recreation of a similar incident some 35 years ago, when the parents of 2 children, Cynthia (mother of Ancia) and Nelson (Father of Leona) had received first holy communion together.
First communion was administered during holy mass at St Peter’s church Barkur by Parish priest Fr. Philip Neri.
The celebration of the event was held at Mother palace auditorium at Brahmavara. Risha D’Silva nee D’Souza raised the toast. Ancia and Leona’s cousins entertained the guests with their dance moves. At the occasion, Ancia sang a hymn and Leona sang a holy communion based song penned by her father Nelson Furtado.
Ancia’s grand mothers Agnes Dsouza, Julian Furtado, god parents Raina and Jeevan Peter Dsouza, brother Aaron, uncle Vinod took part in the celebrations.
Leona’s grand father Mr Donath Crasta, god mother Nora Crasta, her little brother Niyol joined her during various occasions.
Mrs. Juliana furtado, grand mother of both children; Preeti / Stephen DSilva, Shanti / Rosario - uncles and aunts of both children; Elvisha, Risha cousins of both children, joined them during various occasions.
Carol’s Nelson and his band members filled the ambience with their music and songs. Zoey Caterers took care of food arrangements. Eric Soans was master of ceremony.
