Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Shri Ekanatheshwari Temple, Barkur, was held on January 21, 2016. Devotees of Devadiga Community from Barkur and from various other near and far away places were in attendance in a large number. They were accompanied by the people of various other communities and religion making the event one of its kind.
The program began in the morning at 9.30. ‘Shri Vidhyadhishathirtha Swamiji’ from from Udupi Shri Phalimaru Math, were present for the ceremony. Swamiji led the Foundation Stone Laying ceremony and later in his address he pointed out, “Along with the construction of Temple people should develop the feeling of devotion in them and it should lead to the development of the society at large”.
Honorable Minister for Urban Development, Government of Kanataka, Mr Vinay Kumar Sorake, were present for the grand occasion. He said, “No matter how wealthy we are in terms of money and property but it is only by spirituality and devotion we can attain peaceful life. Money is Mortal but our good deeds are Immortal”.
Member of Vidhaan Parishadh Kota Srinivas Poojary were present and he said, “The Temple will unite people. Along with monitary help, voluntary service from the people is also very important for the construction of Temple”.
Member of Vidhaan Sabha Haladi Srinivas Shetty, Rajyothsava awardee B. Shantharam Shetty, Fr Ivan Sequeira - St Peter Church Barkur, President of Barkur Gram Panchayath Shaila D’Souza, Dr B Manjunath Somayaji and other dignitaries from in and around Barkur were present for the occasion.
Honarary President of Shri Ekanatheshwari Temple Trust Dharmapal U Devadiga, President B Annayya Sherigaar, Vice President Harish Sherigaar and other members of the Trust were present.
Donators were felicitated during program. Secretary Narasimha B Devadiga welcomed the gathering. Vasanth Kumar Nitte, Praveen Devadiga Brahmavar compeered the program.
