Barkur, 15/08/2024: The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor at Maryknoll High School in Barkur, beginning at 9:00 AM. The event commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by an alumnus, Michael Noel Pinto. In his address, Pinto emphasized the importance of progress, stating, "Change is the law of nature. Change should happen towards progress."
The chief guest, Satish Amin, paid tribute to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar by offering flowers to his photograph and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the soldiers for the nation.
The event was orchestrated by the headmistress in-charge, Mrs. Swarnalatha, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Kannada teacher Mr. Manohar. The program featured patriotic songs performed by the students, and it was attended by parents, alumni, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets to all present.
