Mrs Shaila DSouza has been elected as the President of Barkur Panchayath

Mrs Shaila D'Souza has been elected as the President and Mr B. Shantharam Shetty has been elected as the Vice President of Barkur Panchayath.

 

Shaila D'Souza who served as the Vice President of Barkur Pachayath for the previous term was re-elected as the member of panchyath from the Hosala-2 ward during the elections held on 29th May 2015. Subsequently she has been elected as the President of the Panchayath. It should also be noted that for the first time in the history of Barkur Panchayth, a lady from Christian Minority has raised to this position in the Panchayath.
 

 

 

Rajyothsava Awardee Mr B. Shantharam Shetty, a well known personality in Barkur, is in leadership in Barkur Panchayath since 37 years. Except for one term, during which he was elected to taluk panchayath, he was a member of Barkur Panchayath. This year he has been elected as the Vice President.

Now that we have able leaders elected for the suitable positions in the Panchayath, we wish them all the success in the endevours during the term. The first and foremeost challenge would be tackling the forecasted and currently experiencing lack of monsoon this year. We hope the ward representatives and the leaders in the Panchayth will leave no stone unturned in responding to the problems of the Barkurians. We also hope the citizens of Barkur will whole heartedly support their Ward representatives and Panchayath leaders in their endevours.
