Barkur, August 24, 2024- The serene campus of SVVN English Medium High School in Heradi Barkur transformed into a vibrant tableau of little Krishnas on Saturday as it hosted its much-anticipated Annual 'Muddu Krishna' Competition. The event, now a cherished tradition, saw participation from over 40 enthusiastic young children from seven surrounding Anganwadis, bringing together the community in a celebration of culture, tradition, and youthful exuberance.
The day commenced with a solemn lamp-lighting ceremony, inaugurating the event with traditional fervor. Mr. B Seetharama Shetty, a retired principal, set the tone for the day with his inspiring words, emphasizing that "participation is more important than winning." His message resonated with the gathering, underscoring the event's focus on fostering a love for culture and building confidence in young minds.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including, Mrs. Likitha Kotary, Headmistress of SVVN, Mr. Rajaram Shetty, Correspondent of the High School, Mr. Shedikodlu Vittal Shetty, Vice President of BES (Barkur Education Society), Mr. Krishna Hebbar, Treasurer, Mr. Ramachandra Kamath, Correspondent of NITI, Mr. Ratnakar Shetty, Correspondent of Heradi Primary School, Prof. Archibald Furtado, Co-ordinator of National Educational Institutions, Mr. Jayaram Acharya, Parents & Teachers President, Mr. Raj Gopal Nambiar, Immediate Past President.
The competition was divided into two categories: ages 3 to 5 and 5 and above. Each participant, adorned in intricate Krishna costumes, took to the stage with endearing confidence, much to the delight of the audience. The judging panel, comprising Mrs. Vinita Upadya, Mrs. Sujatha Andrade, and Ms. Vishnavi Uralla, had the challenging task of evaluating the performances.
The event highlighted the strong community bonds in Barkur. Mr. Ganesh Shetty, President of Rotary Barkur, expressed his unit's happiness in being part of the competition and pledged continued support for children's development in the area. The Barkur Education Society (BES), under the leadership of President Mr. Shantarama Shetty, reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality education at an affordable cost.
The day concluded with a grand valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony. Prof. P Archibald Furtado, the chief guest, honored the winners with cash prizes, gift hampers, certificates, and trophies. In his address, he lauded SVVN for transforming its campus into a "Dwaraka-like" setting with 40 faces of Lord Krishna, praising the school's efforts in inculcating cultural values.
Mr. Rajaram Shetty, in his closing remarks, emphasized SVVN's holistic approach to education. "This is a place where your children are trained to be better citizens of tomorrow, ethically rich, physically fit, and spiritually model one in the locality," he stated, underlining the school's commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals.
As the event drew to a close, the air was filled with a sense of accomplishment and joy. The 'Muddu Krishna' Competition had once again proved to be more than just a contest; it was a celebration of childhood, culture, and community spirit.
