New washrooms donated by CanFin Homes, inaugurated at NJC Barkur

In a momentous occasion marked by joy and celebration, the National Junior College (NJC) in Barkur unveiled state-of-the-art washroom and toilet facilities generously donated by Canfins Homes. The inauguration ceremony, held on Saturday, 9th December 2023, was attended by esteemed guests, including former General Manager Mr. B Sudhakar Shetty, who played a pivotal role in the event.

The newly constructed modern washrooms, costing a substantial Rs 10 lakhs, cater to both boys and girls, addressing a vital need for improved facilities at the educational institution. The ribbon-cutting and plaque unveiling ceremony took place at 10:30 am, where Mr. Sudhakar Shetty, with his wealth of experience, officially declared the facilities open for the benefit of students and staff alike.

The event witnessed the presence of key figures such as office bearers and members of the Barkur Educational Society, representatives from the Education Department, the principal, staff, and the high school headmistress, along with students who eagerly participated in this significant moment.

Following the inaugural ceremony, a stage program unfolded, featuring speeches from prominent figures. BES Secretary, Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Vice President Mr. B Seetarama Shetty, and the Chairman of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Committee, now serving as the Correspondent of SVVN, expressed their gratitude towards Canfins Homes for their generous contributions.

Acknowledging the meticulous work undertaken, the contractor Mr. Umesh Shetty, an alumnus of NJC, received thanks and honors for delivering high-quality results at a reasonable cost. Mr. Sudhakar Shetty, a former lecturer for PUC in 1970, shared nostalgic memories of his time at NJC and expressed his honor in contributing something significant to the institution that has shaped the lives of thousands over the past 76 plus years.

Senior Vice President of BES, S. Vittal Shetty, conveyed a deep sense of gratitude to Canfins Homes through Mr. Sudhakar Shetty, emphasizing that the modern washrooms equipped with scientific facilities not only serve the purpose of utility but also stand as a testament to the students' appreciation by maintaining them.

Concluding the event, Principal Prof U Kotraswamy extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to Canfins Homes, past students, and all contributors for providing the much-needed facilities to their Alma Mater.
