(Sunday, 09/02/25) – Barkur Parish joyfully celebrated Pontifical Missionary Childhood (PMC) Day with deep devotion and enthusiasm. The second morning Mass was led by the members of the Pontifical Missionary Childhood group, who took charge of the liturgy. Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ronald Miranda, offered the Holy Mass and delivered an inspiring homily, emphasizing the significance of missionary work among children.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a special gathering of the Pontifical Missionary Childhood group was held in the parish mini-hall. Arrangements were made to provide refreshments to all the children. At 11:15 AM, the formal stage program commenced with the invocation through hymns and prayers.
The event was presided over by Rev. Fr. Ronald Miranda, with the presence of the Parish Pastoral Council Converner, Mr. Herald D’Souza, as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Mr. Herbert Menezes, Coordinator of the Evangelization and Media Commission, Mr. Johnson D'Almeida, Secretary of the commission, and Mr. Jacob Fernandes, a key representative in the organizing committee.
During the program, heartfelt prayers were offered for the well-being of all children. This was followed by the annual report presentation of the Pontifical Missionary Childhood group, delivered by Riyan Fernandes.
Mr. Herald D’Souza, in his address, extended his best wishes to all the children involved in missionary activities and encouraged them to continue their commitment to spreading the love and teachings of Christ. As a token of appreciation, prizes were distributed to children who actively participated in the event.
Parish Priest Fr. Ronald Miranda concluded the program with an encouraging speech, wherein he distributed copies of the book "Bhavarthachi Saaks" (Witness of Faith) to all the children, motivating them to deepen their faith and missionary spirit. He also invoked blessings for their future endeavors.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Adrian Crasta, who expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the program. As a final treat, ice cream was distributed to all children, bringing joy and smiles to their faces.
