The historic Kallu Chappara (pavilion) of Barkur came alive today as Sabhya Friends Barkur celebrated their 20th annual Kalchapra Deepotsava (Festival of Lights). The event featured the launch of a new devotional song by Barkur's accomplished classical musician Shreesh G. Bhat, who holds seven gold medals in his postgraduate studies in Carnatic classical music.
The highlight of the evening was the release of the devotional song "He Vinayakane, Batte Vinayakane," composed by Shreesh G. Bhat with lyrics by Prashant Devadiga of Nalkudru, Barkur. The song was unveiled before a large gathering of Barkur residents and dignitaries.
B. Shantaram Shetty, President of the Barkur Gram Panchayat, officially inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp and releasing the melodious devotional song. Notable attendees included:

The Gram Panchayat President congratulated the Sabhya Friends team for their consistent efforts in organizing the Kallu Chappara Deepotsava for the past 20 years. The event also featured a musical program "Sangeetha Rasamanjari" performed by the SBK Melodies Barkur team.
The program was compered by Mr. Ashok Barkur, and appreciation was expressed to all those who contributed directly and indirectly to the success of the event.
The celebration successfully combined cultural preservation, artistic achievement, and community participation, marking another milestone in Barkur's rich cultural calendar.
