The St. Peter’s Association Barkur - Bengaluru organized a delightful picnic on the 13th of October 2024, held at the picturesque Royal Lotus Resort. After a long period of planning, the event finally took place, and we owe a special thanks to Adrian Sequeira for helping us finalize the resort with a great deal.
The day began on a bright and cheerful note as all the members gathered at 9:00 am for a scrumptious breakfast, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead.
After breakfast, registrations were smoothly facilitated by Monica Pinto and Marina Furtdao. The event officially commenced with a warm welcome address by our President, Augustine D’lma, followed by a heartfelt prayer led by James Sequeira
To kickstart the fun, an energizing activity was hosted by Anthony Dsouza, which helped everyone get to know each other in a creative and engaging way. The excitement grew as the group was divided into six teams to compete in outdoor games such as Cricket, Football, and Lagori. The matches were officiated by our capable referees, Alwyn Pinto, Chetan, and Viru Furtado, ensuring fair play and enthusiasm throughout.
For those who preferred a more relaxed setting, indoor activities were available, and refreshments were served. The classic favorite, Housie-Housie, conducted by Marina Furtado and Usha Rodrigues, made a delightful comeback, filling the room with laughter and cheers as members enjoyed a friendly round of the game.
A heavy and delicious meal followed, providing a well-deserved break. After the meal, everyone was energized by a lively dance session led by Donson Rebello and Xander Rebello, encouraging everyone to get on their feet.
The indoor games continued with enthusiasm. There were fun-filled activities like the freezing dance for elders, where they grooved to the music, led by Ankita. Other engaging games included a selfie contest, the Grocery List Challenge for couples, a Konkani theme-based singing marathon, and the most creative of all—a costume parade where participants dressed up using items found around them.
These games saw wholehearted participation and were wonderfully conducted by Anthony Dsouza and Shiney Lewis, keeping the energy and joy high throughout the day.
As the day drew to a close, everyone gathered for high tea and joined together in singing the Laudate, bringing the picnic to a memorable and fulfilling end.
A special thanks goes out to all the committee members for their hard work in organizing the event. This was the first time St. Peter’s Association Barkur - Bengaluru organized a picnic, and it was a tremendous success. Every member expressed their joy and satisfaction, leaving with fond memories of a fun-filled day. The event truly strengthened our community spirit, and we look forward to many more gatherings in the future.
