Taxi and Rickshaw drivers are helped at Barkur

As the Nationwide Lock down is being extended some more time due to Coronavirus Pandemic, many generous people and associations in Barkur are engaged in identifying the needy poor people troubled by the Lock down and helping them with groceries and other essential supplies as we continuously covered in our website. 

Karnataka Rajyothsava Awardee B.Shantharam Shetty is leading in the regard and already helped a lot of needy people in Barkur including the stranded laborers temporarily  accommodated at Smt Rukmini Shedthi Memorial Government First Grade College.

Auto Rikshaw, Goods Rikshaw and Taxi drivers are dependent on their daily trips on these vehicles to earn their daily bread and always there to help the general public in all occasions. Realising that they are all in trouble to find their daily bread and support their families, the team lead by B. Shantharam Shetty distributed rice bags to around 100  Auto Rikshaw, Goods Rikshaw and Taxi drivers in the presence of SI of Brahmavara Polics Station Y.Raghavendra.

Spaeking on the occassion, Mr Shetty remembered his father Late B. Umashankar Shetty's help to the needy people during rains and floods and said despite the pandemic, his team has noticed the struggle of these drivers to make the ends meet and requested the Government authorities to respond their plights.  

Speaking on behalf of Auto Rikshaw, Goods Rikshaw and Taxi drivers , Ashok noted that this gesture of the leaders of Barkur is an example to the leaders of other places and hoped to inspire others to help the drivers of their places.

Athmaj Shetty, Barkur, B.Ramachandra Kamath, Devu Hoskere,  Koosa Gurikarm Kachur and Media Representative Shivarama Acharya Bandimatha were present at the occasion.
