Tiny Tots of National Primary School Barkur Celebrate Teachers Day in Unique Style

-P.Archibald Furtado

HANEHALLI, September 5, 2024 - The National Primary School in Hanehalli (NHPS) witnessed a heartwarming celebration of Teachers Day today, as students surprised their educators with a self-organized event filled with love, respect, and creativity.

In a departure from traditional celebrations, each child brought homegrown flowers, pencils, pens, and erasers as gifts for their teachers. The entire program was meticulously planned and executed by the young students, with Class VII pupils discreetly guiding their juniors. What made the event truly special was that neither the Head Master nor any other teacher had prior knowledge of the day's proceedings.

The celebration included thoughtful speeches about Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and St. Mother Teresa, whose birthdays coincide with Teachers Day. Students garlanded portraits and offered flower petals as a mark of respect. The event was further enlivened by songs, dances, and the distribution of sweets, followed by fun games and prize distributions.

The highlight of the day came when Head Master Mr. Udaya Shetty, visibly moved, expressed his happiness and contentment. He marveled at how the children, despite their young age, had managed to organize such a meaningful program without any involvement or guidance from their teachers.

P. Archibald Furtado, the Administrator Coordinator present at the occasion, conveyed Teachers Day greetings to all educators. He commended the children for their initiative and reverence, noting how they had found a special way to appreciate the love, care, and sacrifice of their teachers.

This unique celebration not only honored the educators but also showcased the students' organizational skills, creativity, and deep respect for their mentors. The event at NHPS Hanehalli stands as a testament to the strong bonds formed between teachers and students, even at such a young age.

As the nation celebrates Teachers Day, this small school in Hanehalli has set an example of how the day can be observed with genuine emotion and student-led initiatives, making it a truly memorable experience for all involved.
