The 78th Independence Day celebration was held at SVVN English Medium School, Herady, Barkur, with great enthusiasm. The program was presided over by Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary of The Barkur Educational Society (R), who unfurled the national flag. In his speech, he evoked patriotic feelings among the students and offered valuable advice.
Mr. Shrinivas Shettigar, Proprietor of Shettigar Industries and Correspondent of National Higher Primary School, Hanehalli, inaugurated the renovated 'Bala Vana', which he sponsored for renovation and maintenance. He emphasized the importance of saving the earth to avoid natural calamities.
School Correspondent Mr. Rajaram Shetty spoke about the significance of the day and encouraged students to cultivate patriotic feelings. The management members also inaugurated AV projectors for standards 9 and 8.

Headmistress Mrs. Likitha Kotary welcomed the guests and gathering, while Mrs. Bridget Gonsalves proposed the vote of thanks. Miss Khushi, a student of standard 10, skillfully compered the program with the assistance of Mrs. Jyothi Shetty and Mrs. Nagarathna Hebbar. The celebration concluded with a vibrant cultural program presented by the students.
