Barkur Parish Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Father Valerian Mendonsa

Barkur,  - The St. Peter's Church in Barkur was filled with an atmosphere of reverence and gratitude as parishioners gathered to honor the memory of Father Valerian Mendonsa, a beloved priest who served the community with distinction. The memorial service, held today, commemorated Father Mendonsa's life and his significant contributions to the parish during his five-year tenure as Vicar from June 3, 2012, to June 6, 2017.

Father Valerian Mendonsa, who passed away on July 3, 2024, in Kallianpur, left an indelible mark on the Barkur parish community. The memorial service began with a solemn Mass, officiated by the current Vicar, Father Ronald Miranda, who led the opening prayers. Father Boniface Pinto concelebrated the Mass alongside Father Miranda, creating a poignant atmosphere of spiritual reflection.

Following the Mass, Mr. Herald D'Souza, the coordinator of the Pastoral Council, delivered a heartfelt eulogy on behalf of the parishioners. His words painted a vivid picture of Father Mendonsa's impactful ministry in Barkur:

Mr. D'Souza highlighted Father Mendonsa's remarkable ability to connect with both Christian and non-Christian community members, fostering an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect.

Father Valli as he was fondly known, was remembered for his active engagement with all families in the parish, demonstrating a genuine interest in their lives and well-being.

Mr. D'Souza expressed profound gratitude to God for blessing the Barkur parish with Father Mendonsa's presence and leadership. He described the late priest as a true gift to the community, whose memory would continue to inspire and guide the parishioners.
