Here is small good news to our regular Railway commuters to Mumbai by Matsya Gandha….
As informed in these pages earlier, the daily Matsya Gandha Express Mangalore – Tilak Nager- Kurla Mumbai, abruptly stopped its halt at Barkur Railway Station……Of course it not only hurt our long journey travellers but also caused lot many inconveniences to the people around Barkur. Rightly the unfortunate decision united most of the people and social platforms and associations in Barkur to lodge a complaint with the concerned Railway authorities and appealed for its restoration as a regular stop in Barkur.
To keep the pressure on, in Mumbai under the initiative of Rajaram Acharya the New Mumbai District BJP, Karnataka Cell, President, a delegation met the Konkan Railway senior Officer Ravindra Kamble in Konkan Bhuvan. Interestingly he has given a patient hearing and clarification – as in these days, there are less than 25 passengers either to Mumbai or to Goa booked in Barkur Station. It may be noted in this context that, though the actual booking from Barkur station may not be there, but those who booked and reserved their tickets in Udupi and even Mangalore are catching the train in Barkur, since there are very few ticket slots in Barkur station with options – like A/C or First class, it is informed….
However, Ravindra Kamble was very kind towards the delegation and advised and requested to put a word through various media channels and press - to spread the information about this precondition in the surroundings to avail facilities and ticket bookings via Barkur Station only…..!
While thanking all those taking initiative to resolve this issue, Team barkuronline.com also join with all socially concerned, to restore the much needed facilities in this historic temple town without any further delay.
