Heavy Rains Trigger Flooding in Barkur for the Second Time in 15 Days
Barkur, located in the coastal part of Karnataka, is experiencing severe flooding once again following relentless rains. This marks the second time the village has faced such a calamity in just 15 days.
The region is witnessing the heaviest rainfall in years, significantly disrupting daily life. Schools have been closed due to a red alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Commuters are struggling to reach their workplaces and return home, with major downpours occurring during peak morning and evening hours.
Power shortages have exacerbated the situation. Heavy winds accompanying the rain have caused trees to fall, damaging electricity poles. Linemen are working around the clock to locate and repair faults.
While the rains have alleviated water shortages, the sheer volume has created numerous challenges. In light of these unfortunate events affecting the state and neighboring regions, we at Barkur Online urge everyone to stay safe and take care of one another.
