Kavigoshti at Choulikeri by Kavitha Trust

Kavitha  a trust dedicated to the cause of konkanni Poetry organized a Konkani Kavi Ghosthi at the banks of the Choulikere in Barkur . About 9 konkanni local and poets from Mangalore participated in the recital of Konkani Poetry

Comparatively alarge number of enthusiastic poetry lovers gathered in the yard of the residence of Gretta and Staney Lewis located on the banks of Coulikere on Sunday, 18th November 2012 

They were listening to some of the finest Konkani poets, who had come from various places of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.  The programme, which was held here under the auspices of `Kavita Trust' for the third time at Barkur, got lavish praise from all the people.

 

 

 

 

Sahithya Academy Award Winning Poet Melvyn Rodrigues, President, Kavita Trust, welcomed the gathering at the beginning and briefed about Kavita Trust the way it works to promote Konkani Poetry.

 

In his speech, Melvyn expressed concern over the fact that creative minds of the people have of late, been getting numb and jaded, because of various gadgets of the modern world to which the people are geting attracted and addicted to.  He praised the poets of Barkur for keeping the spirit of poetry alive and the general public for their whole-hearted support in appreciating  the creativity of the poets.

 

 

 

Eric Soans Barkur presided over the session where Antony Barkur, Kishoo Barkur, Claudy Brahmavar, Andrew L D'Cunha, Vincy Pinto Angelore, Stevan Quadros Permude, Eric Soans Barkur, Manu Bahrain and Melvyn Rodrigues recited some of their beautiful poems.

 

 

 

Rev.Fr.Valerian Mendonca appreciated the efforts of Kavita Trust for its untiring work for the promotion of Konkani poetry by organisng such events all over the undevided Dakshina Kannada district and elsewhere.

 

Melvyn Rodrigues proposed vote of thanks. Gretta and Staney Lewis along with their children Shiney and Sunny Lewis and Alwyn Andrade supported the plan of organizing the programme here.

 

 

A sumptuous  plate of traditional dishes of Pothrade, Manni washed down with Hesr Neer served with love was enjoyed by the guests and the lovers of poetry  were truly overwhelmed by the power poetry of entertaining . It can be recalled here that Kavita Trust organised two such Kavi Goshtis and one Kavita Festh which is whole day event at Moodahadu Kudru in association with The Expressions.
